Swimming is not only a skill but it is also one of the best exercises for haelth and growth as far as kids are concerned. The right age to teach swimming is a matter of your own opinion but many parents nowadays vouch for teaching swimming to infants (even the newborn ones) while some prefer to teach them at a slightly later age. Irrespective of what age you begin this sport, it requires some basic accessories. A swimsuit or trunks, swim shoes, and glasses are a few of them. You can get a range of them in shops. There are many varieties, range of prices, and designs that may confuse you. Here are few basic things from which you can choose.

Swimsuit: It is a gender specific item. For boys it may be a two piece swimsuit with Tee shirt and shorts or it may be just the swimming trunks, while in girls it is a swimsuit or a bikini. These also may be available in one or two pieces. The swimsuit like any other clothes, may be required to be changed frequently as babies grow quickly. Also, with small kids, it is less possible that you may go for daily swim. Hence do not buy a costly dress.

Pool Shoes: They are usually made of soft rubber and are tender for baby feet. They prevent the slipping on wet surfaces and also protect the feet from hot sand or sharp rocky layers on beaches. They are available in all sizes from newborn to toddlers and are really useful if your family is fond of swimming.

Sun suits or rash suits: These are one piece suits normally serving dual purposes. They are meant to protect the body from UV rays of the sun and prevent rashes and also regulate the body temperature in water thus reducing shivering. They are meant for kids who are 6 months or older than that. However, they are a bit more costly than the simple swim wears. They are available with swim caps as well.

Sun glasses: They are meant to protect the eyes from getting water or any other harmful particles in them while swimming. Especially useful for regular swimmers or those near to beach waters. These are available in wide range of prices and the quality ones are really costly but can be used for a longer period of time.

Beach and pool wear: These are accessories other than actual swimming ones but essential. They include beach hats, towels, bathrobe and anti-tan gels. There could be even more items than these and can be used to their fullest extent. These items are especially more important for the little ones as their skin is much more sensitive than the elders.
