Babies born by caesarean are more likely to having breathing and temperature problems, especially if there has been no labor. Even when compared to long and difficult vaginal birth, these added risks still exist. In making decision about caesarean, you and your doctor weigh these benefits and risks. The risks of caesarean are worth taking only in situations where a vaginal birth might incur other even greater risks to mother or baby. So there are number of things you can do to improve your chances for a vaginal birth if you don’t want to go for a caesarean. I hope this guide will help you.

Take a good care of yourself so that you enter labor in the best possible health.

Find a hospital and caregiver whom you trust, who have low caesarean rates, and who encourage you to use self-help techniques in labor.

If you have had a caesarean in the past, consider joining a support group that promotes vaginal birth after caesarean and assists you with psychological preparation and practical information.

Take a childbirth preparation classes that emphasize your participation in decision making and the use of no pharmacologic methods to relieve pain and stress and to promote labor progress.

Prepare a birth plan with your caregiver to help ensure that you both are working toward the same priorities.

Plan to utilize medications and interventions only when clearly necessary, since these tend to alter the course of normal labor.

Consider having a support person with you in labor, one who knows and shares your priorities. He or she would be well trained. Childbirth educators or experienced professional labor support people may be available in your area. They can be of great help to both you and your partner.
