How To Prepare Your Baby For Using A Potty

Educating and training your baby on how to use a potty is not a tough job, but is a tedious job requiring lot of preparation and hard work from a parents end. At intial phase all babies will be reluctant to use a potty as they fear to use it. But later with your support they will break their shell and will even cooperate with you in the training.

Develop a habit of potty training your baby on a regular and constant basis considering it as an utmost important part of your daily routine.
 
Always start potty training with a timetable. Try to develop a schedule of training for your baby n such a manner that it is not effected by guests, vacations, commitments etc.
 
Be very cautious about your words. Do not use negative words dirty, stinky etc which can make a child feel embarrassed, humiliated and self – conscious.
 
Explain to your child that whenever he/she feels the need to go, they should try to control until they reach the potty.
 
Elaborate the child how to use the potty and help him/her sit at an initial stage.
 
Discuss with your child that going to potty will reduce diapers and diaper rashes. Moreover will also help them stay clean and dry.
 
It is advisable to potty train the baby using dolls or figures to explain step-by step procedure. This will help the bay to learn faster.
 
Potty training books and video can be of great help to potty train the baby while having fun with him/her effectively.
