How To Take Care Of Your Baby's Hair

Infants normally have sparse hair initially, however some of them really have good hair growth. Gradually the hair grows and you have to either trim them or take care of them. Like any other features of a baby, its hair is also very delicate and thin. Hence to maintain their hair, you have to be tender, hygienic and careful. Using hair acceessories for babies including their comb or hair brush should also be taken proper care of. It should not hurt the hair or the scalp. Here are few tips on how to manage your little one's hair especially if it is a baby girl.

If your baby has thick or slightly long hair, do not let it get entangled. After the bath, comb it with a wide toothed and soft comb or hair brush without hurting the roots of the hair. Also take proper care to ensure the prevention of dandruff and lice.

For baby girls, if you are tying the hair into piggy tails or plaits, tie them loose. Do not let the hair get pulled. If you are planning to let the hair grow, be sure you trim it at least after one or two months. This will help to keep the hair healthy.

Do provide a gentle oil massage to the scalp periodically. This helps to nourish the hair from the roots and also helps the baby in relaxing.

In case of hair accessories, do not go in for heavy bands or bows for daily use. Prefer the ones that are light and convenient. Avoid use of hair clips for small babies as the hair gets entangled in it. If you do have to use them occasionally, use plastic ones.

Do not use accessories that have attached or suspended objects that can be removed by the kid. Such things can pose choking hazards.

Cover your babies head with a cap or a scarf when traveling or going out. Dust can make the hair sticky. Use a shampoo that is made of natural products and is free from chemicals.
