Safety Tips For Baby Toys

Toys are always a great source of fun for babies. But not only being a source of fun, with the help of toys, babies learn about the world. So before buying toys for baby, there are some safety tips which are essential to follow.  If you know, what is good and what is bad, you can feel secure handing a new toy to your baby. In this guide, I am going to give you some safety tips before buying toys for babies.

When you are going to select crib toys, large is a good feature. Crib toys, which are rounded and smooth, are recommended, while toys with sharp points and edges should be avoided.

Look for choking hazards, as babies want to put everything in their mouths. So be sure, the toys to be chosen are of big sizes, larger than the baby’s mouth.

Always check, whether there is any part of toy, which can be easily broken off. If there is, then that is not going to be a good option. Babies are very good at taking things apart, and they tend to twist and pull things, so look for sturdy construction.

Always check the flexibility of the toy by gently bending it. If the plastic is rigid and delicate it can break easily.

If you are going to buy plush toys like animals or dolls, then avoid toys stuffed with small pellets. Doll is having shoes, clothing or button, so check whether all are properly attached or not. They should be very secure. To avoid strangulation, remove any loose ribbons or bows.

Always check the warning label on the toy before buying it. This will definitely give you important information about toy’s contents, construction and the suggested age range.

Do not use cords to attach toys like rings, dolls or rattles to your child’s crib. The cord could become wrapped around the baby’s neck or limbs, causing strangulation.

A safe toy can become dangerous through normal wear and tear. So always keep your baby toys, in good condition. A plastic crib toy can be sterilized by boiling it in water for ten minutes.
