Tips For Buying A Baby Powder

Skin is the largest organ of human body and it is essential that you help your baby maintain healthy skin that is free of irritation. Most of the parents use baby powder to keep a baby’s skin clear and free of chafing, but health experts say that baby powder can pose a hazard as small particles are released into the air and can irritate baby’s lungs. Baby powders are used for protection of tender baby skin. The powder is sprinkled on the babies, to absorb excess moisture keeping skin dry and to provide smooth surface so as to avoid nappy rash. So there are so many things to be taken care of when going to purchase a baby powder. In this guide, I am going to give you some helpful tips for buying baby powder.

Usually baby powders are available with powder puff cases. Generally, during dusting, excess amount of powder is sprinkled if not handled properly. To avoid that, powder puffs should be used so as to enable proper application or rubbing.

Look for a baby powder in which the quantity of the perfume is in lesser amount. Because the higher content of perfume may cause nostril irritation to the babies. So the next time if you are tempted to buy the highly fragranced, attractively packed powder on the shelf, think twice. Because that delicious aroma is nothing but extra fragrance which could cause irritation to your baby’s vulnerable skin.

While baby powder is a great way to keep your baby smelling sweet and fresh, it’s better to avoid that extra dab on the soft, gentle skin. Liberal application of the powder, may just not agree with your baby’s skin, as it is very fragile and therefore more prone to irritant and allergic skin problems.

Buy only well-known and reputed brands of baby powder.

Always check the ingredients and make sure that it’s not harsh for the baby’s skin. So always look for the products that are phthalate free.

Always remember, not to buy talc for the baby. Instead chose cornstarch based alternative. Most of the baby powder products are made from a cornstarch base or with a baking soda mix. Many natural products use olive oil and a blend of vitamins A, D and E for their known skin care benefits. You can also find an aloe leaf juice, calendula and chamomile flower extract.

Most of the baby powder products use blended herbs, but not all are safe to use with babies, so use caution even with a natural product. Some babies display a reaction to natural products while others may react to a commercial product. So, it is a good idea to conduct a simple skin test and determine any reaction on your baby’s skin. in that way you will find the product which is just right for your baby’s skin.
