Tips For Safe Sleeping Of The Baby

Getting your baby to sleep is a big job for the mommy’s. Sleeping a baby is not just putting him to bed in his cot. Every parent’s responsibility is to check if the baby is safe. It so happens that sometimes the baby tends to sleep over the night without any wake up after an interval. The mother may not wake up at night to check the baby, as there was no disturbance from the baby’ side. It is good if your baby sleeps well enough not to disturb. As a mother it is your duty to see that the child is safe during his sleep. Here are a few things to be checked when the baby is sleeping or before you put your baby to bed in his cot.

Using a pillow for the first year is not advisable, because if the baby rolls he may not be able to lift himself up. The child does not have enough control over his body to manage on his own.

It is the same case with large and bulky soft or plush toys. As the baby grows he stands on them to get out of the crib and lead to a fall.

Any type of clothing for night ware or even the bedding should not have long ribbons or laces which might get tangled around the child.

Make your baby sleep on his back. This position is excellent for breathing and avoids choking of the baby. Any other position for sleeping of the baby is risky leading to death in the cot.

Maintain proper room temperature meaning not too cold or hot. Check the temperature of your baby with the back side of your hand on his tummy or neck.

Using of few layers of light weight blankets is a better option than a single quilt as if the child gets too hot you can remove a layer as required. A baby with fever should not be over wrapped even if he is shivering.

Always keep your baby close to your room or you as possible. Check for a safe place which will feel cosy for the baby.
