As a new mom, you may be vary confused in dealing with your babies schedule. You may have learnt to breast feed, change the diaper, wipe and clean your kid too. However understanding and setting a routine of sleep with the kid, requires some time. Every baby is different and in this case the tips given by others may or may not work. It is up to you to understand your kid and work it out accordingly.Some things do remain common, that is infants, especially the newborn ones, sleep for more than half the time of their 24 hours routine. They show common symptoms of sleep that are easy to understand. However the nap interval differs a lot.

From the very first day, try to understand your baby. She will convey a lot of things through gestures. When she is tired, either she will just sleep off quickly or will start with symptoms like yawning, moving her hands and legs lazily or rubbing her eyes and face.

If she is tired but cannot sleep either due to hunger or some other reason, the best way to express is by crying. Then you will have to take care of looking out and identifying the reason.

The diaper will need a periodical check as in case of infants it requires frequent changing.

Newborns sleep quickly if they are swaddled in a blanket. However some of them do not like their hands and legs to be packed.

A crib or bassinet or a swing may be of great help and comfort for vary small babies. They feel cozy and can move freely in their sleep. However, till they sleep, it is better if they are beside you.

The sleeping time of newborns is many a times of a very short duration. As they need to be fed after two to three hours, they wake up as soon as they are hungry.
